At the time of the birth of their second daughter, James was a confectioners labourer, and they lived at 2 Downhill St, in the parish of St Cuthbert, York.
!They were there at least between the years of 1898 and 1904.
Her parents were living at 42 Regent St, York, at the time of Elizabeth's birth.
18 Jan 2003: I have not as yet found this couple on the 1891 Census.
I have the following family, but I do not know how, or if, they fit in:
William Cole and his wife Mary Ann had a son called Cecil Stanley Cole Chr 25 Jan 1891, St Cuthbert, York. They lived at 6, Richmond St, Hallfield Rd, York at the time.
Cecil became a confectioner, and was also a Bombadier in the first world war (R.G.A.)
He married Ellen Hunter probablybefore the start of the first world war, or just after it started.
I have found two children for them:
Marjorie Cole, born 8 Nov 1916 at 54, Hart's Terrace, York, Chr 26 Nov 1916, St Cuthbert's, York.
Stanley Cole, born 14 Sep 1921 (Civil Reg. Index Vol 9d, page 17), York, and Chr 2 Oct 1921, at St Cuthbert's, York.William and Mary Anne also had two other children:
Arnold James, Chr 5 May 1889 at St Cuthbert's, York,
and Alexander Lawrence Cole Chr 6 Mar 1892 at St Cuthbert's, York.
Throughout these three births the parents lived at 6, Richmond St, Hallfield Rd, York.
William himself was a Confectioner.I also have the following family:
William Cole, Confectioner had a son called Walter Benjamin Cole, a Railway Fireman, born about 1887/8, and lived at 5, Morley St, York. He died 16 Feb 1955, at 81, Water lane, York, aged 67, and was buried 21 Feb 1955 at York Cemetery, grave number 20395, and burial number 115376.
He married 20 Dec 1919 at St Cuthbert, York,
Matilda Ballance, daughter of James Ballance, a winesmith (?). She was born about 1900 according to the marriage certificate, and lived at 24, Price's lane, York.
Witnesses were George Richard Spurr, George Ballance, Agnes Montecristo Caulfield and lily Reynolds.
They had 3 children that I have found so far:

George Henry Cole, Born 19 Aug 1921, at 9, Providence Place, York (New Lendal Bridge)
Kathleen Cole born 27 Nov 1924, at 9, Providence Lane, York, Chr 21 Dec 1924, St Cuthbert, York.Another family of Cole's:
Thomas Lambert Cole born 1810/11 in the Parish of St Cuthbert, York, and his wife Maria Susanna born 1813, in Shoreditch, Middlesex. I found them on the 1881 Census, there were no children or grandchildren living with them, nor any other relatives, or borders etc. I have not found THomas Lambert cole on the IGI as yet, 13 Nov 2001.Another Family of Cole's:

and had two children that I know of:
