!4 Dec 2002:
Witnesses at this marriage were James Atkinson and Caroline Linford.
All signed their own names.
The marriage took place in the Parish church of Leeds, and was perofrmed by D Kershaw, assistant curate. The marriage took place after Banns had been posted (Giving 3 weeks notice of intention to marry).
Luke is described as a Bachelor aged 27 of Wortley, and that he was a maltster. His Father Richard was a Smith.
Ann Linford was unmarried also.

19 Nov 2002: Marriage certificate obtained 18 Nov 2002. In this, the Father of Luke is given as Richard Bulmer, not John Bulmer like I had previously supposed. Hence, all the ancestry I had 'found' is not Luke ancestry, though it is correct for the other Luke Bulmer. I am keeping his ancestry in another file, as he could be related to my own family ultimately. Hence, it is best not to assume who a father is especially if you do not know where someone was born! Get a marrage certificate if possible.

Luke was a Maltster.
Was there a son called Luke Bulmer?? I have found a marriage of a Luke Bulmer to ................ registered in Worltey, Leeds, in the June Quarter 1875. This would be about the right age if he was born about 1854/5, which he could have been. This is not the marriage of Luke to Sarah Roberts, but could it have been a second marriage??
If it is the marriage of a son called Luke, then we will need to find the birth of him.
We are now looking for the marriage of Luke Bulmer in the period of 1852 backwards....
There is a reference to a Luke Bulmer getting married in 1851, 3rd quarter, at Scarbrough, Vol 24 page 524....Is there a Sarah Roberts to match up??
Not so far....

Perhaps we should look for a birth of a Luke Bulmer about that time, in wortley/Leeds.

Sarah Roberts-10419

19 Nov 2002: From the Marriage Certificate, Sarah's Father definitely is John Roberts.
Sarah had an Illegitimate girl, called Charlotte Roberts, no Father's name is given on the birth certificate, and on the Census information below, she appears as Charlotte Bulmer.

Sarah's Husband had died before the 1881 Census was taken.

!They were living at 22 Malcolm St, Wortley in Bramley, Leeds, Yorkshire, England.

Charlotte Roberts-10199

Charlotte was a Woolen Cloth filler.

Will Charlotte's work need to be done again?? due to the different surname?? It appears so, she does not appear on the IGI as yet.

John Bulmer-10122

John was an Iron Turner.

this does seem unlikely as there is a John son of Sarah Bulmer Widow (of Luke) living at 22 Malcolm St, Wortley, Leeds, who was UNMARRIED!! so this family below is probably not related!

A possible family for John?? From the 1881 Census:

Dwelling: King Street

Granted the occupations do not match, but the naming of his son as Luke is striking. I do not recall there being many Luke Bulmer's on the IGI at all in Yorkshire, but this could be a possible connection.

Eva R. Bulmer-324

19 DEc 2005: I have had an email from AnAMuir stating that she does not believe Eva R Bulmer ever married, and that she thinks the death date is correct at 1916 and not 1961 which is on the IGI.

Source: AnAMuir@aol.com believes Eva married Streeter. ----Not sure who wrote this line!
On the IGI, the death date is given as 1961, and not 1916 as was on this file until I changed it. Which is correct?

Elizabeth Bulmer-9378

A John William Goldie believes that Elizabeth is his mothers great great great grandmother. She married a Thomas Woodall (b 1790). I am about to get in touch with him. 5 May 2006
