Thomas Parvin

Hello Brian,
The format is referring to quarters of respective years.
Details of 1851 Census.
HO107 2319 Folio 363 Page 29.
1 Hollforth Sq., Leeds.
Joanathan Parvin Head 29 years occ; Joiner Born Kilburn, Yorks
Elizabeth Parvin Wife 29 eyars Born Leeds, Yorks
Thomas Parvin Son 11 months Born Leeds, Yorks.
Yes I think Thomas is brother of John Newell Parvin as the place of John Newill's birth and parentage is the same as the Census address.
Birth certificate details of John Newill Parvin.
Born 6th January 1854 at 1 Holdforth Sq., Leeds, Yorks.
Father Jonathan Parvin, occ. Joiner.
Mother Elizabeth Parvin formerley Newill.
X The Mark of Elizabeth Parvin, Mother, of 1 Holdforth Sq., Leeds who registered birth.
Birth registered on 13th January 1854.
Registrar Edward Cooke. Wwould you like a copy?
The birth and death records I gave you for Leeds, from 1848 through to 1862. I think these are probably other children of Joanathan and Elizabeth n. Newill.
Next time I am in London will check the 1861 Census for Holdforth Sq., Leeds. It is possible that they may still be there. If not Leeds is a big area to blanket search.
Also have a birth reg. for a Beatrice Parvin in the 1/4.12.1884 at Holbeck. A marriage of Beatrice 1/4.3.1910 at Leeds.
Regards,
Helen Parvin Fosbrook
On 1881 Census John Newill Parvin's place of birth is given as Leeds. Do you have details of 1881 Census entry or would you like me to send them to you?

William Arthur Parvin

He appears to have married also, there is a MArriage reference in the first Quarter 1888 reigstered in Leeds. I do not know who too though. The 1891 census would be useful.

John Henry Bell

Birth registered 1st Quarter 1891 at Guisbro', Vol 9d page 512.
!Birth date from his birth certificate, and also from knowledge that the
probate of his will came on his birthday.
!According to Gran, John Henry is a cousin to Annie Pickergill, who was the mother of Gran's second husband, Robert Foster. She was born Annie Pickersgill. I have yet to find the link. 7 Mar 2001
!He was a Hay Cutter at the time his son Norman was born in 1921.

Elizabeth Toase

Census UK 1891: 5 April 1891, She was living at Uppleby, Easingwold, North Yorkshire in 1891.

Charlotte Bell Female 3 1898 Yorks Skelton Borobridge

Louisa Charlotte Bell

I have yet to find her Christening. It is not in the parish of Osmotherley.

Mary Eleanor Bell

Mrs Hilda Bell Charlton, Mary Eleanor's Niece stated that Mary died as a young child, and as she does not appear on the 1891 Census, I assume that she died before the 1891 Census was taken,.

She was at her Grandfather's house when the 1891 Census was taken

Sarah Kate Bell

The christening record stated that Sarah Kate was the 4th daughter of William and Eleanor! I have her as the third at the moment.

Mary Pickersgill

She may well be from Kingston upon Hull, though I need the 1871 census to !prove that.....
!If she is from Hull, then her Mother is Jane White.

Fred Harrington

Fred married a second time to a Girl called Elsie. I cannot recall whether she was young or old, but after Fred died Elsie married a Bill Mawson. He is an invalid, and she has to do everything for him. Her address is :

130 Edge Court, Gilesgate, Durham, DH1 2XG.

George Marsden

there are 2 occaisions where this family appear on the 1881 Census, one in brightside Bierlow, and the other in Dalton near Thirsk! Each time Emily marsden, George's sister is present. Very helpful of them!
!1881 census 4818/38/9, Dalton in Thirsk, Yorkshire, England.
!George was a bootmaker. How silly of me, I did not note down that the 1881 Census says he was born in Whittington, Derbyshire, which is only about 8 miles from brightside bierlow in Sheffield!
!Also mentioned in the census was an Emily Marsden, aged 32, listed as a visitor, but I wonder if she might be a daughter or cousin of George.
!Darnall is a small part of Sheffield, about 2 miles east of Pittsmoor Rd.

Charlotte Jepson

1881 census 4818/38/9, Dalton in Thirsk, Yorkshire, England.

Sarah Marsden

she was a Witness at her sister Eleanor's wedding. This is all I know at the moment - 20 July 2001. she does not appear on any of the cenus' that I have found her father and mother on. Is she perhaps a niece or cousin of Eleanor?? rather than a sister?

Elizabeth Gains

6 Apr 2005: There are a few Elizabeth Gains/Gaynes born about the same time, but I cannot be sure which is my Elizabeth. There appear to be two which are more likely, as the third is born in 1747 which is a bit too late for getting married in 1762. I really need to know how old Elizabeth was when she died in 1790.
Elizabeth Daughter of William Christened 26 sep 1731 at Topcliffe By Thirsk, Yorkshire.
Elizabeth Daughter of William Christened 3 Feb 1733 at Topcliffe By Thirsk, Yorkshire.

5 Jun 2001
The other possibility is Elizabeth Daughter of Christopher Gaynes, Christened 27 mar 1734 At Topcliffe by Thirsk also.
So I am going to chase up both possibilities, and see where they lead me too.
Christopher Gaynes married Anne Abbot 3 feb 1731 at Topcliffe.
Wililam Gaynes married Faith Sikes 7 nov 1725 at Topcliffe.
The extraction seems to stop at 1714, so I will have to go and look at the registers myself to fill in the gaps.

Thomas Parvin

This is from Helen Fosbrook.....
!My line is descended from Thomas & Hannah who had a son John who married Esther and lived at Little Leake amongst other places. They had a son George born 1800 at North Otterington. This George moved to Sheffield and married Martha Dyson. Their son George born 1833 at Sheffield, married Fanny Naylor and had a son George born 1860 who married Jane Morton. George & Jane moved to Scotland and had several children one of whom was Rose Ellen my grandmother. Rose Ellen married Robert McKenzie and had five daughters. Their dau. Jane was my mother. She moved to Corby in Northamptonshire and married my father and that is where I was born. I am now married with three children and two grandchildren. Not sure how we are connected but feel that we most probably are.
