It does also appear that William, the oldest child, born illiegitimately, has taken the name of his mother's husband.
Hinckley is 7 miles to the west of Atherstone, so seems reasonable match.
William Arthur Skelton Helps-3136
Are William Arthur Skelton and Arthur John the same person?? The 'John' is not certain either!!
!To Answer the above question, I don't think so.
!William was a fireman, and was married but I forgot to note down the name of his wife. He was living in St John's St, York in 1919 at the time of his son Walter's birth.
I have a note for one William Wells who died 29 aug 1822 aged 63 (Or 65). Also Hannah Widow of Willliam who died 21 July 1846 aged 79 Years. They were both buried in the Parish of Holy Trinity Goodramgate, York which is only a few hundred yards from the Parish of Bedern in York. I do not know if they are related yet though. 3 Feb 2001.
William is believed to be a Cooper.

Is the following the correct entry for this Thomas?:
Wells, Thomas, son of William, of York, Cooper. Apprenticed to William Stanley and Joseph Smith, Whitesmith and Carpenter for 7 years. Indentured 12th Aug 1801. Consideration £4 by Order.
Children were 14 years old when they started apprenticeships, which would put his birth year at 1787 which is not far off!

there is a Relative called Willam Henry Hill Jr, who has submitted this George's work.
All the IGI entries have his Christening as 14 Nov 1734, not 14 May 1734.
Hmmm we have a contradiction here. Carolyn Royce has her dying in 1830, yet I have ascribed her as been married to William Spence.
~Also, is this William Spence related in anyway to my uncle Graham Spence?? Not likely, Graham's Spence family come from Dudley Hill.
From a letter written in 1893 by William R. Wells and H, believed toJoseph Wells and Annie (Baldwin) Wells, "Lizzy and the children arewell, George never writes. News from England not very good. Louis andhis wife and daughter well, your aunts Jane and Hannah Maria well,David. Josephs wife and Toms children dead" and "Polly lost two of herchildren. We send our love to you and your wife and the two finegrandchildren"
