Charles Dickinson and his ancestry

Notes

Charles Dickinson-368

18 Oct 2008: Marriage ertificate of Charles and CLarice obtained, which confirms my suspicions of their names etc. Charles was a ship carpenter, as was his Father William Charles Dickinson. Witnesses at the marriage were Thomas Johnson and Annie Louisa Dickinson.

20 Jan 2007: I did a search of FreeBMD for anyone with the surname Dickinson and mother's maiden name of Johnson, and this is what turned up:
Surname First name(s) Mother District Vol Page
Births Mar 1912 (21%)
Dickinson Harry Johnson Wakefield 9c 126
Births Mar 1913 (59%)
Dickinson Eva L Johnson Warrington 8c 487
Births Sep 1913 (85%)
Dickinson Norman Johnson Wakefield 9c 144
Births Mar 1914 (93%)
DICKINSON Hilda V Johnson Lincoln 7a 887
The two in Wakefield look like they could be the right family, though I have previously believed that Eva Dickinson was the wife of Harry Dickinson, and not his sister, but I might be wrong. Norman I have not come across before, and Hilda L Dickinson also I have not heard of from my family before.

2 May 2004: I have been looking for marriages between Charles Dickinson and Clarice .............. using the Spouses name that is given on the indexes to cross reference with. I started in 1916 and went back to 1912 inclusive, but did not find anything. I also did the first 2 quarters of 1917, but still no success..........I think I need to check other Spelling variations.

from the 1901 Census, a possible family for Charles....

65982914 24807360 Wakefield Yorkshire Dickinson Arthur Male 3 1898 Yorkshire Wakefield

from the 1881 Census: Is this the same William as above? The name of Charles as his father would fit with William calling one of his sons Charles.... Possibly not, because Charles' occupation was that of a Joiner, and not a cotton miller or spinner........ We shall see...

From Shelley Smith, of York who is researching Dickinson's in the Leeds area:
Mary Ann Dickinson, Minor, unmarried, of 1 Cross Dolphin St, Leeds, Father = Timothy Dickinson, Coal Merchant
MARRIED Dec 1844 at St Peter's, Leeds,
George Newton, full age, unmarried, of Catherine St, Leeds, Father = Isaac Newton,

This family may be related to me eventually, but I shall not find out until I get past my Grandfather!
